Take Down Your Harp

Received on November 2022

Sarah Darby

The Israelites hung up their harps when they went into captivity.

Psalm 137:1-4 (BSB) “By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion. There on the willow tree we hung our harps, for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said ‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion!’ How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?”

I saw a vision where I stood next to a giant willow tree with all kinds of harps hung up in its branches. I watched as men and women ran out of a shadowy place of torment, past me into the light, into freedom. On their way past they ripped down their musical instruments, tools and weapons without pausing. One after another I watched them drawn deeper into light.

I sense that some of us have gone into places of captivity in our intimacy and worship. Some have physically stopped playing instruments or worshipping. We’ve hung up our ‘harps’. The place where freedom once flowed became a place of torment. Intimacy became entertainment (v3-They demanded songs of joy).

There is a call and sound resounding from Heaven, “Come into light and freedom. Demand and the pressure of performance will be destroyed as you are captivated by My presence and by My face. Your stance is as one who is FREE, calling others into FREEDOM.

I felt Him say, “Remember who you are once more. Remember who I am. Take down your harp from where you hung it up.” (We hang something when it is being put to death.) “I will breathe LIFE into those places that were put to death.

TAKE DOWN YOUR HARP!

“Take back your weapon, your tool, your instrument, your song, your declaration, your dance and your war cry of freedom, for You are home, no longer in captivity.”

Have you hung up your harp? Ask Holy Spirit for strategy to move forward from here.

Jeremiah 31:4 (BSB) “Again I will build you, and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines and go out in joyful dancing.”

Rev. 14:2 9 (ESV) “I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of many waters and like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of harpists playing on their harps.
